What: Hike with the C.A.R.E. Dogs
When: 10:00 am until Noon, May 2.
Where: The Gateway Trail, 807 S. Battleground Ave., Kings Mountain, NC.
More Info: Spring has sprung! Let's Hit those Trails!
Hike with the CARE doggies. You can hike for a hour or you can hike for two hours. Sign up accordingly and don't forget to tell us what size, energy level, doggie you would like to hike with!
Join us at the beautiful Kings Mountain Gateway Trail and enjoy a hike with one of our rescue dogs. Afterward, stick around to relax, socialize and enjoy time with fellow dog lovers.
Each month we will share a Sign up Genius so you can choose the energy level and size of the dog that fits you best. The Gateway Trail is perfect for everyone, offering paths for beginner to advanced hikers.
It's a fun and meaningful way to spend a Saturday morning, get some exercise, and make a huge difference in a dogs life. You may choose to hike from 10 to 11 am or 11 am to noon, or for the entire two hours. Whatever suits you best.

What: Mental Health Month

Where: Eugenia H. Young Memorial Library, 104 Howie Dr., Shelby, NC.
More Info: Join the Mental Health Association, at the Makerspace in the Eugenia H. Young Memorial Library to make buttons in honor of Mental Health Month! You can make your own design or choose from some of the many designs we'll have the day of. This is an all ages event, but we ask that children 12 and under are accompanied by an adult (per the rules of the library). Available while supplies lasts.

Enjoy browsing a silent auction filled with unique and exciting items, sip on a refreshing mimosa, and sit back as you enjoy live music from Trace Casanova, recently seen on American Idol. Trace is not only an incredible vocalist but an unforgettable performer.

What: Nature Walk

Where: Hanna Park, 1655 McBrayer-Springs Rd., Shelby, NC.
More Info: Join the Mental Health Association of Cleveland County at Hanna Park for a nature walk! This is a beginner-friendly walk, focusing on teaching participants the connection between mental health and physical health. We'll be talking about how you can be present in nature and enjoy the time you spend outside. Please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water! Children should be accompanied by an adult. While this event is beginner-friendly, participants are responsible for monitoring their own health and personal physical limits. What: Heritage Day

Where: Broad River Genealogical Society, 1145 County Home Rd., Shelby, NC.

Blood Drive: Monday, May 11, Family Worship Center COG and the KM Ministerial Association will sponsor a blood drive from 12 till 5:30 pm, 1818 Shelby Rd., Kings Mountain. You may register online at Oneblood.org/donate with code 68025, at FWC on Sunday or just walk in. Donors will receive a $20 e-gift card and another gift. ID is required. Be a blessing.


Nar-Anon Support Group: Meets 6:30 pm weekly on Tuesdays at the First Baptist Church, 120 N. Lafayette St., Shelby, NC. Nar-Anon is a support group for those affected by someone else's drug addiction. We meet in the classroom off Dale St. between Sumter & Campbell St. Park on the side of the church or in the alley. Al-Anon Support Groups: Al-Anon Family Support Groups support those who are affected by someone else's drinking and drug use.
