Betty Jane (Janie) Scism, 74, of Lawndale NC, passed away November 28, 2023 under Hospice care at Willow Ridge in Rutherfordton NC.

Born in Cleveland County on June 28, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Betty Powell Scism and step father, the late Joe Scism Sr. Jane was enjoying her retirement in the original farmhouse after working for Bell South and the Charlotte Observer. She loved spending time with her black lab William and long time kitty, Jeanie.

She is survived by a brother, Joe Scism Jr. and wife Paige of Lawndale; a sister, Amanda Scism Gettys of Shelby; 3 nephews that Jane adored, Luke Scism, Caleb Scism and Manuel Gettys.

Visitation for the family will be on Sunday, December 3, 2023 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at Zion Baptist Church Family Life Center.

Burial will be private
