Brenda Ann Waterson, age 73 of Kinmere Dr. in Gastonia, formerly of Georgia, passed away Monday, June 6, 2016 at her residence. She was born on Gaston County to the late Annie Sparks and Lester Lee Darty Sr. Brenda was formerly in sales working with a dress shop and Merchandise Mart in Georgia. She enjoyed dancing and entertaining. She was also a talented decorator. Brenda's greatest pleasure was loving on her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, George Darty, Clifford Darty, and Patricia Hord.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas A. Waterson; daughter, Kimberly Hughes of Gastonia; son, Scott Hughes (Vicki Deubler) of Kennesaw, GA; grandchildren, Jonathan Hughes (Olivia) and Krista Barnhorn (Bobby); great grandson, Jayden Hughes; brothers, Ben Darty (Helga) of GA, and Lester Darty Jr. (Pat) of Waco; sisters, Elby Bennett and Betty Lynn, both of OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Cherryville with Rev. Dr. Vince Hefner officiating. Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 to 12:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
