Brenda Kay Cooke Newton went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 1, 2025.

She was born July 9, 1942 in northern Cleveland County, North Carolina to Florence Leona Mull Cooke and Ottis Edgar Cooke. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years "Pete" Elmore Newton Jr., her parents, and her sister Nancy Cooke Giannotti.

Brenda is survived by her children, Bart Newton (Allyson) and Brad Newton (Dana) and grandchildren Mallory Newton and Wyatt Newton. She also leaves her sister Sarah Cooke Miller and many beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws, and cherished friends. Brenda grew up in Cleveland County on a cotton farm and had many treasured memories with her family there. Brenda graduated from Appalachian State University. She was a retired teacher from CMS who always remembered her students.

Brenda loved the Lord and lived it every day. She was very grateful for her church family at Mulberry Baptist Church and also Carpenter's Grove Baptist Church where she grew up. She was very thankful for the Grahl family who were always so kind and helpful. Brenda appreciated all the caregivers that assisted her. Brenda loved people and did everything she could to make their lives better. She also cared deeply for animals. She loved beagles, and her dog Scout shared a special bond with her.

Brenda was a cherished part of her children's and grandchildren's lives. She was always there for them and loved doing things with her family.

Brenda loved many and many loved her. This world is a better place because of her.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 11:00am at Carpenter's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jeremy Mahaffey officiating.
