Carl Dennis "Smiley" Davis

Carl Dennis "Smiley" Davis left his earthly life and began his eternal life in Heaven on Monday, March 17 at Via Health Partners/Wendover Hospice House. He was born November 16, 1944 in Kings Mountain to William Franklin and Mandy Pryor Davis. He was known for his constant smile and was given the nickname "Smiley" while in Kings Mountain High School. He was a member of the Class of 1965.
Carl was a hard-working man who was happiest when he was out in the sun riding his lawn tractor while cutting grass. He was the owner of Davis Lawn Service for over 50 years. He had also worked for Coca-Cola Company, Daniel Construction, Leonard McSwain Septic Tank Service and Keever Furniture. Carl loved to cook and was quite the grill master. He and his wife often catered dinners and parties with their famous steaks and chicken. Carl was also a familiar face cooking Easter breakfast and other activities at his church. Carl loved his Lord and Savior. He was a lifelong member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where he served in many capacities including Deacon, Sunday School teacher and director and choir member. On November 14, 1965, Carl married the love of his life, Judy Blanton. They were blessed with two sons, Dennis Wade Davis and Donald Ray Davis, both of who preceded him into Heaven. In addition to his parents and sons, others who preceded Carl include his brothers, Edward Davis, Roy Davis, and Toy Davis; Father-in-law and mother-in-law, Raymond Fred and Ina Moore Blanton; sister-in-law Ina Blanton; brothers-in-law, Ronnie Blanton, James Messer, and Steve Swagger and special friend Monty Thornburg.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Judy Blanton Davis, granddaughter Jordon Davis Bounds, (Patrick); Daughters-in-law; Kim Davis and Francis Simmons, Brother; William "Willie" Davis (Diane), Brothers-in-law; Norman Blanton (Annie), Jerry Blanton (Libby), and Wayne Blanton (Katherine), Sisters-in-law; Kim Blanton, Brenda Swagger and Nina Messer. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Jason Allen officiating

VISITATION: Thursday, March 20, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:50 PM prior to the service at the church

INTERMENT: Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Kings Mountain, North Carolina
