Carolyn Denton Sigmon, age 74, died Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory. Born in Cleveland County on November 10, 1942, she was the daughter of Catherine Wallace Denton of Lawndale and the late Fred William Denton. Carolyn was a member of Lawndale Baptist Church. She was a resident of Carolina Care in Cherryville where she enjoyed teaching Bible Study. Carolyn formerly worked at Western Carolina Center and Lutz-Austell Funeral Home. Carolyn enjoyed, camping, looking for wildlife, especially bears, and riding horses. In addition to her father, Carolyn is preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Cory Jenkins.

In addition to her mother, Carolyn is survived by a son, Gary Ramsey of Lawndale; two daughters, Tracy Jones and husband Tommy of Bostic, and Lisa Willis and husband Alfred of Hopewell; a sister, Linda Cornwell and husband Richard of Shelby; two brothers, Fred Denton and wife Brenda of Asheville and Melvin Denton and wife Gracie of Concord; 13 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Jim Kilby officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Lawndale. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
