Carolyn Slaughter Lail, age 83, of West Academy St., passed away Saturday, July 20, 2024, at her home.
She was born November 27, 1940, in Lincoln County, to the late Cramer Slaughter and Mary Brooks Slaughter Carpenter. Carolyn enjoyed fishing and cooking. She loved to play bingo. She was also a devoted Elvis Presley fan. Carolyn cherished her grandchildren and family more than anything.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Cletus Sylvestus Lail, Jr.; daughter, Mary Jane Ehlers; and eight siblings.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Penny Lail, and Cramer Lail (Trish); 8 grandchildren, Keith Blanton, Star Kaylor, Brandy Burns, Carol Payne, Michelle Sherlin, Christopher Lail, Sarah Sigmon, and Cory Ehlers; 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, July 22, 2024, at Carpenter-Porter Funeral and Cremation Services.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at the funeral home with Rev. Ricky Sigmon officiating.
Interment will follow at City Memorial Cemetery.
