Corene Costner Kendrick, age 94 died Tuesday October 8, 2013 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. Born on September 13, 1919 she was the daughter of the late Dewey Yates and Annie Williams Costner. She was a lifelong active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School Teacher for high school and  adult groups. She prided herself and was eager to learn all she could about the Bible by taking classes through the Baptist Association.  She loved and adored her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She loved to cook, can, sew and travel.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Fred. L. Kendrick; a daughter, Emily Lou Ann Kendrick; and a grandson, Gregory Wesson.

Mrs. Kendrick is survived by two sons, Harold Kendrick and wife Diana, and Joel Kendrick and wife Pam all of Lawndale; two daughters, Mary Jane Wesson and husband Purvis of Shelby, and Jill Sides and husband Michael of Kannapolis; eight grandchildren, Donna Beam, Robert Kendrick, Jason Kendrick, Kevin Wesson, David Wesson, Jennifer Foster, Steven Kendrick, Emily Sides,  and  Justin Sides; fourteen great grandchildren, Amanda Morris, Alisa Beam, Rob Kendrick, Celeste Kendrick, Tyler Kendrick, Jase Kendrick, Macy Wesson, Eli Wesson, Tucker Wesson, Allison Foster, Joshua Foster, Seth Kendrick, Joel Kendrick III, and Emma Kendrick; three great great grandchildren, Turner Morris, Yates Morris, and Grady Kendrick; and caregiver, Letha Collins.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 2:00 pm  at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Black officiating. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 1:00pm until 2:00pm. in the fellowship hall.
