Earth Day at the Gateway Trail April 12

The City of Kings Mountain, in partnership with the Kings Mountain Gateway Trail and presenting sponsor Albemarle Corporation and Metal Recycling Services, will host an Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 12, to celebrate the 55th anniversary of Earth Day.
Beginning at 11:00 am, various community organizations and vendors will provide free activities. Live zoo animals from Circle M Livestock and Safari Park will pay a visit. Some very cool dinosaur friends will be there, too. Woody the Owl will be there, too. Other attractions include a Drum Circle, Woodworking, Food Vendors, Live Encampments, and a Music Jamboree by the Dancing Fleas.
Make plans to help release 200 Painted Lady butterflies back into their natural habitat. This activity supports the national and environmental cause to save our pollinators.
Last year, the family-friendly event featured forty-four craft vendors and partners, three food vendors, and booths presented by event organizers and sponsors. The full 2025 event guide will be posted online soon at https://www.kingsmountainevents.com/earth-day-celebration.
Extra parking is available across the street from the trailhead and along Quarry Road. Organizers encourage the community to come out to celebrate our beautiful earth and enjoy a walk on the trail.
