Elizabeth "Lizzy" Mae Drum, age 18, died Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Carolina's Healthcare System-Cleveland. Lizzy was the daughter of and Lisa Withers Philbeck and husband Allen Philbeck of Shelby and Steve Drum and wife Samantha Drum of Denver. Lizzy was a senior at Crest High School, a member of FFA, a National Technical Honor Society Scholar, a member of the JV Soccer team, ran track and cross country and enjoyed art. Lizzy was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church where she served on the Synodical Women's Organization Board of the ELCA, Altar Guild, Pastor Call Committee and Relay for Life. Lizzy is preceded in death by her grandparents, Dale Withers and Sheila Yvonne Eggers, Tom and Joyce Philbeck, and Janice and Pete Drum.

In addition to her parents, Lizzy is survived by, four aunts; Ann Sipe of Lawndale, Karen Philbeck of Shelby, Wendy Huffman of Hudson, and Angie Loftin of Denver; two step brothers; Jeremiah and Chris Barnette of Denver; and numerous cousins.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11:00am in the gymnasium of Crest High School with Rev. Christina Auch officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30-11:00am at the school. Burial will follow at Ascension Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Hope's Chest, 1042 Sam Lattimore Road, Shelby, NC 28152 or North Shelby School, 1205 Northside Drive, Shelby, NC.
