Garlan Lee Eaker, 90 of Taylorsville, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory.

Born in Cleveland County on February 1, 1933, he was the son of the late Cecil L. Eaker and Bessie Proctor Eaker. Mr. Eaker was a retired engineer from General Electric, Hickory and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, Taylorsville, NC.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Eaker and five sisters, Mary Eaker, Burleens "Lena" Whisnant, Dot Hendrick, Wilma Towery and Selma White.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-nine years, Edith Jewell Towery Eaker; son, Eric Eaker and wife, Karla of Hickory; daughter, Wanda Vander Wall and husband Bill of Tarpon Springs, FL; daughter-in-law, Mary D. Caldwell and husband Tim; brother, Gene Eaker of Lawndale; grandchildren Jesse Eaker wife Kristy of East Linden TN, Colin Eaker wife Melissa of Taylorsville, Bailey Eaker of Taylorsville, Kyle Eaker wife Susan of Kill Devil Hills, NC, and Ethan Eaker wife Kendall of Chesapeake, VA and 12 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 30, 2023, from 1:00pm to 1:45 pm, at Kistler's United Methodist Church, Casar, NC.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Kistlers United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Morris officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the in the church cemetery. .
