Harrison "Harry" Blanton, age 60, passed away in his home on Thursday morning, February 19, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 4, 1954 in Shelby to Betty Newman Blanton and William Harrison Blanton. He was a 1972 graduate of Shelby High School and a 1976 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was a dedicated member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church where he sang in the Chancel Choir. He worked at PPG for 35 years in various roles and enjoyed traveling and developing friendships over the years. He loved Shelby Golden Lions football and everything related to the Carolina Tar Heels.

Harry is survived by his wife of 37 years, Cameron Davis Blanton, and their children, Gretchen, Davis, Will, and CJ, two brothers, Craig Blanton and wife Alisa of Rutherfordton and Todd Blanton and wife Lisa of Charlotte, and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many lifelong friends including the Hoovs and the Tower of Girth.

Memorial service will be held on Monday, February 23, 2015 at 4:00 pm at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Rev. Sylvia Wilhelm and Dr. Ervin Price officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Epworth Building.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church 1207 W. Dixon Blvd. Shelby, NC 28152 or Hospice Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby NC 28150.
