David was born June 6, 1950 to the late Joseph Burgess and Bessie Davis Burgess.  He worked as a police officer for the Forest City Police Department for several years and also for Burgess Body Shop.  Before his retirement, he worked for J.C. Cowan for many years. He was a member of Henrietta First Baptist Church and loved working on tractors, doing yard work and fishing.  David was known for his keen sense of humor.

    Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Barbara W. Burgess; one daughter, Nicole Burgess Klepper and husband, Travis of Inman, SC; three grandchildren, Harley Burgess, Camren Klepper and Trenton Klepper; one sister, Joann Jenkins and one brother, Dennis Burgess both of Dobbinsville. He is also survived by a number of loving nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the Henrietta First Baptist Church with Reverend Glen Wilson and Reverend Lanny J. Funchess officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
