Janice Elizabeth Putnam, 72, of Shelby, passed away Friday October 2, 2015 at the Carolinas Medical Center - Cleveland.

Janice was born June 2, 1943 in Cleveland County a daughter of the late Julius Franklin and Edna Waters Putnam. She was preceded in death by a brother, Frankie Putnam and a brother in-law Kenneth Tesseneer. She was the favorite sister in the family. She was strong willed and very energetic. Her life revolved around her love of her family.

Janice is survived by seven sisters; Linda Tesseneer of Shelby, Jean Stepp and husband James of Shelby, Frances Jones and husband Barry of Cliffside, Aileen Putnam of Shelby, Helen Gibbons and husband Gary of Shelby, Carolyn Ledford and husband Neal of Shelby, Marie Stallings and husband Steve of Shelby. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Monday October 5, 2015 at 12:00pm at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Eric Davis and Rev Ron Hawkins officiating. Burial follwed in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 11:00am to 11:45am at the church
