Goforth, his son, Alex Scott Goforth, and his sister, Kay Lowery. He is survived by his two sons, Samuel Goforth and wife Amy, and Craig Goforth and wife Lynn. Steve was a proud graduate of Number Three High School in Cleveland County and went on to study engineering at North Carolina State University. He later returned to Shelby to work alongside his father and uncle at Goforth Brothers, which is now Southco Industries. After the passing of his father, Steve served as president of the company for 47 years, working alongside his brothers Dennis and Richard.

He also served on the board of directors for Shelby Savings and later Home Trust Bank for 32 years.

Steve had a deep passion for golfing with his close friends, fondly referring to their group as "The Old Geezers Club." His humble nature and radiant smile will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to his Hospice nurse, Cindy Cook, whose compassionate care was a blessing to both Steve and his loved ones.
