Joe Yates Houser, 73, of 1794 Cliffside Highway, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Born in Cliffside, NC, he was the husband of Janette "Jan" McHugh Houser and son of the late Yates Wiseman Houser and Lorena Newton Houser. He was a graduate of Chase High School, retired from Shaw Construction, and was a member of State Line Baptist Church. He loved his family, his grandchildren, traveling to the beach and mountains, especially Smokemont, and was an avid Clemson Tiger fan.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Steven Houser (Christy) of Rutherfordton, NC; a daughter, Laura Houser Hefner (Ray) of Gaffney; five brothers, Wayne Houser (Peggy), Lance Houser (Linda), Vaughn Houser (Hazel Ann), Mike Houser (Janet) and Kenny Houser (LaDonna), all of Mooresboro, NC; two sisters, Marianne Ramsey and Judy Ruppe, both of Mooresboro, NC; three grandchildren, Reid Houser, Mia Hefner and Jake Hefner; numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Monday, June 24, 2024 at State Line Baptist Church. Memorial services will follow at 3:00 PM at the Church with Reverend Jack Pattillo and Reverend Rob Hefner officiating.
