Smyrna -- Joseph Fettney Martin, 92, of 5232 Old Wallace Road, passed away Wednesday, April 8th, 2015, at Charles George VAMC.

Born in York County SC, he was the son of the late William Martin and Edna Martin. Mr. Martin retired as a machinist and was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Martin is one son, Joe Martin, of Davidson, NC; four daughters, Syble Latta of Gastonia, Gail Smith of Gastonia, Jeanelle Costner of Gastonia, and Debi Morris of Mill Springs, NC; four sisters, Eula Martin of Gaffney, Fannie Doster of Smyrna, Pat Humphries of Smyrna, and Gladys Walker of Blacksburg; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by one grandchild, two great-grandchildren, two brothers and six sisters.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 12th, 2015, from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Smyrna Baptist Church 1613 McGill Highway Smyrna, SC 29743. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. Mike Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Canaan United Methodist Church Cemetery. Bob Latta, Larry Costner, Dean Martin, Bobby Martin, Johnny Walker and Tim Dismukes will serve as pallbearers.
