Kenneth "Shorty" Wilson

Blacksburg -- Kenneth "Shorty" Wilson, 57, of 394 Battleground Drive, passed away on Friday, July 28th, 2023, at Cherokee Medical Center.

Born in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, he was the son of Madison Monroe Wilson and Janie Black Wilson. Kenneth formerly worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He enjoyed his dogs, cutting grass, fishing, and going to the flea market. Shorty was a lifelong member of Antioch Volunteer Fire Department, where he served in many different roles including Chief.

Surviving Mr. Wilson are his brother, John Wilson (Nina); his nieces, Taylor Wilson, Abby Stancil, Christy Stamey (Derrick), Rachael Cogdell, and Becky Cogdell; his nephews, Damian Wilson, Liam Stancil, Charlie Wilson (Chasity), Chad Wilson, Tommy, and Dale Wilson (Jill); and special niece, Darlene Sisler (William); and a host of other relatives and friends. He is also survived by his furbabies, Moe, Fatback, and Sissy.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny Wilson, Larry Wilson, Marion Wilson, and Charles "Buck" Wilson, and his sister, Treva "Sis" Wilson, and his great-niece, Sarah Wilson.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 2nd, 2023, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, SC. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 3rd, 2023, at 3:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Vernon Craig and Rev. Nathan Price officiating. Interment will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Members of Antioch Volunteer Fire Department will serve as pallbearers.

The family will be at the residence of his brother John Wilson at 400 Battleground Drive, Blacksburg, SC.
