Mickey Ledwell, age 78 of Critter Den Trail, died Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Carolina HealthCare System, Lincoln. He was born on September 27, 1936 in Cleveland County to the late Robert and Ina Head Ledwell. He retired from Carolina Mills of Maiden after 25 years serving as a foreman. He was a member of First Nazarene Church of Cherryville where he attended with his children and grandchildren. Mick loved the Lord with all of his heart and never met a stranger. His favorite thing after retirement was spending time with his grandkids, great-grandkids, and horses.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Dora “Polly” Alice Beam Ledwell; brother, Junior Ledwell; sisters, Ruth Rutledge and Mary Wylie; and a great grandson, Joseph Parker.
Survivors include his son, Robert Ledwell of Vale; daughters, Rebecca L. Thomson (Robert) and Ina Marie L. Parker (Gary) all of Vale; grandchildren, William Seate, Jr. (Debbie), Alan Parker, Jr., and Lisa Cantor (Patrick); step-grandchildren, Wayne and Travis Parker and Robbie Thomson; great-grandchildren, Trenton, Steeler, Danielle, Abagail, and Katlyn Parker and Lindsey and A.J. Seate; brother, Jake Ledwell of California; and sisters, Geneva L. Beam and Grace Brackett, both of Cherryville.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Tom Hartis officiating.
