What: Mother's Day Brunch and Plant Sale
When: 10:00 am until 1:00 pm, May 10.
Where: The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 502 W. Sumter St., Shelby, NC.
More Info: Mark your calendars now! This will be the third annual Mother's Day Brunch to benefit those with no voice, Clifford's Army Rescue Extravaganza (C.A.R.E.) Maggie and Carol Watson (former Sister's Cafe) will once again be preparing some amazing food. We will also have live music, with Trace Casanova providing the entertainment. If you have never seen this young man, you are in for a treat! He can croon like Sinatra, Martin and more. Perfect for a Mother's Day Brunch. There will also be a mimosa bar, a Mother's Day themed silent auction and some special surprises. Out front we will have a plant sale, flowers, herbs, vegetable plants. Bring your mom, wife, girlfriend, special person, out for a very special day. Tickets are $15, (Tickets are $15 per person (available on line) and $20 at the door. Brunch will be in the lower level of The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer. C.A.R.E (Clifford's Army Rescue Extravaganza) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all volunteer, dog rescue organization.

What: Clear Creek Classic Youth Fishing Tournament
When: 8;00 am until 11:00 am, May 10.
Where: South Mountains State Park, Clear Creek Access,
5999 Branstrom Orchard St, Morganton, NC.
More Info: Free Event for kids under 16 years old. Prizes include tackleboxes and rod/reel combo for longest fish, smallest fish, first fish caught, and most fish caught.

What: 11th Annual Extension Master Gardener Plant Sale
When: 8:00 am until 11:00 am, May 10.
Where: Cleveland County Extension Center Auditorium, 130 South Post Rd., Shelby, NC.
More Info: Master Gardener Volunteers have been propagating & potting plants for months to ensure wide selection of perennials, herbs, annuals, and house plants, come out and find your plants and check out our Garden Shed area full of garden creations, gifts and other treasures. Also there will be Silent Auction items. Sale is open to public. Cash, debit and credit cards accepted. Free seed packets to the first 100 customers!

More Info: "Quilts Are Blooming In May". There will be quilts, vendors, demonstrations, boutiques and several special events. Admission is $5.00.... Handicap accessible.

Nar-Anon Support Group: Meets 6:30 pm weekly on Tuesdays at the First Baptist Church, 120 N. Lafayette St., Shelby, NC. Nar-Anon is a support group for those affected by someone else's drug addiction. We meet in the classroom off Dale St. between Sumter & Campbell St. Park on the side of the church or in the alley. Al-Anon Support Groups: Al-Anon Family Support Groups support those who are affected by someone else's drinking and drug use. No Name AFG meets on Mondays at Noon at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 510 W Sumter St., Shelby. Contact Kay at 704-473-4891. Shelby AFG meets on Thursdays at 8:00 pm at Shelby Presbyterian Church, 226 E. Graham St., Shelby. Contact Jann at 704-692-7688.

Chess: We meet each month on the fourth Monday of the month (April 28, 2025) at 5:15 unless it falls on a holiday. Join us at the Cleveland County Library System, 104 Howie Dr., Shelby, NC at 5:15-6:45 PM for a fun evening of chess. There are players at all abilities and age groups. Everyone is welcome! If you want to learn or have played for years this meeting is for you. See you there!

Monthly Meeting at American Legion, Post 82: 2nd Monday of every month. Meal at 6:00 pm, Meeting at 6:30 pm. Warren F. Hoyle, American Legion, Post 82, 1628 South Lafayette St., Shelby, NC. We invite all Veterans to attend our monthly meetings. If you are a son or grandson of a veteran, you can join the Sons of the American Legion. Members of the Legion family can join the Legion Riders. To join the American Legion, the veteran holds an honorable discharge or is an active duty veteran. Spouses, daughters, granddaughters of a veteran can join the Auxiliary.
