Rachel Bridges Blanton, 97, formerly of 308 Austin Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Peachtree Centre.
Born in Gaffney, she was the daughter of the late Edward Bridges and Rosa Lee Simmons Bridges. She was a graduate of Gaffney High School, retired from Alcoa and a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Surviving is a son, Gregory Blanton of Shelby; a sister, Peggy Dorman of Gaffney; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Todd Blanton (Tara), John David Blanton and Jessica Terry (Junior); two step-grandchildren, Michelle Alexander (Chris) and Tracy Hamrick (Jimmy); four great-grandchildren, Levi, Eden, Greg, Shelley, Nikki and Ben; and several nieces and nephews. Ms. Blanton was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Bridges, a daughter-in-law, Brenda Blanton; and a great-great-granddaughter, Ava.
The family will receive friends from 2:30PM until 3:30PM on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Blakely Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 4:00PM at Oakland Cemetery with Mr. David Dorman officiating.
The family will be at their respective homes.
