Ray Pittman Thrift
A native of Cleveland County he was the son of the late Jerry Pittman and Louella Jane Godfrey Thrift.  He was also preceded in death by three sisters.  Mr. Thrift was a supervisor at Fletcher Oil Company for 25 years.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting.  Ray was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather.  He had an uplifting personality and a great sense of humor.  His favorite saying was he was “aggravating the world”. 

Mr. Thrift is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Ella Mae Roberson Thrift; two sons, Randy Ray Thrift and wife JoAnn of Cherryville and Donald Wayne Thrift and wife Lisa of Shelby; a daughter, Wanda Jean Thrift Beaver and husband Phil of Lawndale; a sister, Mildred Thrift Cadenhead of Kings Mountain; a brother, Billy Wayne Thrift of Shelby; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one great- great grandchild.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.  The Rev. Robert Parsons and the Rev. Keith Webb will be officiating.  Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home.  At other times the family will be at the home.
