Rufus Grier Plonk, Jr., age 91, resident of Kings Mountain, passed away at Summit Place on January 8, 2016. He was born in Gaston Co. NC to the late Rufus Grier Plonk, Sr. and Grace Berry Plonk. He was also preceded in death by his wife Frances "Fran" Franklin Plonk, brother Hank Plonk and sisters Libbie Mercer and Lenora "Nook" Lackey. He was a member of Hoey Methodist Church, Shelby NC. He was a Phi Beta Cappa graduate of the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. He was a real estate agent, stockbroker, teacher, and served in the United States Merchant Marines and United States Navy.
