SHELBY LIONS...

The Shelby Lions Club distributed 81,983 pounds of food to 6,278 people representing 2,779 households during its quarterly food distribution project, September 7th, 8th, and 9th. Three tractor-trailer trucks brought the food, valued at $62,202 dollars, to the Cleveland County Fairgrounds, where it was sent to non-profit agencies for distribution, or distributed to individuals on sight. Seventy volunteers assisted, along with two present or former residents of a homeless shelter, who were paid for their time. Lion Dave Titus uses a computer to help people register for government surplus food during the Shelby Lions Club food distribution.
