Steve “Bud” Moore Simpson, 64, of 3804 Towery Road, died Sept. 3, 2013, at Hospice at Wendover.
Mr. Simpson, a native of Cleveland County, was the son of the late Carl Henderson Simpson and Ruth Moore Simpson. He was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church, and retired from P.P.G. as an instrument technician. Mr. Simpson also served in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Simpson always loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Preston Simpson, Frank Simpson, the Rev. Herman McKee Simpson, and Carl Douglas Eugene Simpson; sisters, Betty Estelle Guy, Janie Lee Simpson, Martha Jane Simpson, and Pearl Elaine Simpson; brothers-in-law, Owen Wiggins, Clyde Carpenter, Conley Reynolds, and Richard Justice.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Smith Simpson of the home; sons, Steve Moore Simpson, Jr. and Brooke of Swannanoa, Thomas Henderson Simpson of the home, and Michael Preston Simpson of the home; grandchildren, Lindsey Marie Simpson, Eric Nathaniel Simpson, Kaitlyn Paige Simpson, and Hannah Grace Simpson, all of Swannanoa; brother and sister-in-law, Jack Stanley Simpson and Sybil of Shelby; sister and brother-in-law, Frances Simpson Peeler and Howard of Belwood; sister Yvonne Simpson Reynolds of Crouse; sisters-in-law, Evelyn McSwain Simpson of Shelby, Mabeleene Simpson of Casar, and Lillian Simpson of Cherryville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
Funeral Service: 2 p.m. Friday at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel

Burial: Pine Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with Military Rites
