Valaree Batchler Peterson

Valaree Batchler Peterson, 91, of Burnt Mill Road, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 31, 2025.

She was full of life. She loved her family and meeting new people.

A native of Blacksburg, she was the wife of Robert Jackson and the daughter of the late Millege and Pearl Rippy Batchler. She attended Cherokee Falls Missionary Fellowship Church. She loved people, gardening, and planting flowers.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Joy Painter, and her son, Doug Eaker (Verlene), two grandchildren, Randy Painter (Lorrie) and Heather Millwood (Jonathan), and four great-grandchildren, Taylor Raines, Jalyn Painter, Corbin Ledbetter, and Paizley Millwood. She also has a brother, Sonny Batchler, and a sister, Inez Love, a special nephew, Ricky Batchler, and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her late husbands, James Aulton Eaker and John L. Peterson, her infant son, Reno, twin brother, Darvee Batchler, and three sisters, Kathleen Blackwelder, Oveida Ellis, and Hildred Hannon.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 3rd, 2025 at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, South Carolina from 5:00-7:00 pm. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 4th, 2025 at 2:00 pm in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel. Interment will be in Clingman Memorial Gardens. John Hughes, Jerry Wright, Yvan Walker, Jimmy Johnson, Jonathan Millwood, and Corbin Ledbetter will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Keith Manning.

The family will be at the home of Doug Eaker, 160 Burnt Mill Road, Blacksburg. SC.
