"Annie Granny" Cole, age 82, of Long Street, Rutherfordton, NC, went home to be with the Lord Friday, February 22, 2019 at Oak Grove HealthCare Center.
Annie was born March 22, 1936 in Rutherford County to the late George T. Greene and Willie Mae Grice Greene. She was a graduate of Cool Springs High School, class of 1955. She owned and operated a daycare center for forty years and was a faithful member of Alexander Baptist Church. She served as a Sunday School teacher, WMU director and a choir member. Annie loved watching local baseball teams and was a devoted Braves fan. She was a much-endeared resident of Oak Grove HealthCare Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Benson Cole, Sr.; brother, Robert Greene and two grandsons, Josh and Jermy Cole.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Claude Benson "Benny" Cole, Jr. and wife, Susie of Rutherfordton and Mark Raymond Cole and wife, Tammy of Danieltown; sister, Nancy Cole Childers of Rutherfordton; two grandchildren, Lindsey Paige Downey (Josh) and Richard Blake Cole; four great-grandchildren, Ashley Renee Cole, Addison Downey, Alanya Downey and Cullen Downey.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Allen Terry and Reverend Buddy Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Alexander Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
