Aileen McCurry

Aileen McCurry, age 92, died Thursday December 5, 2024, at Atrium Health Cleveland Pines in Shelby, N.C.

Born in Cleveland County on July 20, 1932, she was the daughter of the late George and Maggie Leola Dixon Davis.

Aileen was the wife of Rev. Parris McCurry and was able to travel to many states spreading the word of God. In her spare time, Aileen loved to sew with her friends and make many clothes for herself, suits for her husband, and even clothes for her grandchildren. Aileen never met a stranger; in fact, she was most known as "Maw Maw" to just about everyone.

Aileen was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Parris McCurry, her daughter Kathy Ridings, a grandson Kevin Borders and 2 brothers and 4 sisters.

Aileen is survived by her daughter Linda McCurry Greene and husband Keith of Shelby, 3 grandchildren; Gary Borders, Celeste Whisnant Kimbrell and husband Eric of Shelby, Daria Borders Burns and husband Michael of Union, S.C., and 7 great grandchildren: Caroline Abernathy, Miranda Tessnear, Chasity Rochester, Heather Sanders, Michael Burns Jr., David Border, and Brooke Smith, as well as 10 great great grandchildren: Harper Abernathy; Christian, Noah and Kelci Rochester, Gabriel Sutphin, Arya Davis; Ava, Maggie, Mili and Maverick Burns.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday December 11, 2024, at 2:30 pm in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Eric Kimbrell, Michael Burns Sr. and Brad Rochester officiating and her great granddaughter Heather Sanders singing. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive family and friends an hour & half before the services, from 1:00 - 2:30 pm, and other times at the home of Aileen McCurry, 204 Beam Ct. Shelby, N.C. 28150.
