Alice Elaine Gregory, 97, of Shelby passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, July 27, 2024.

Born in Cleveland County on September 25, 1926 she was the daughter of the late Cyrus R. Ledbetter and Gar Bridges Ledbetter. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Gus Gregory, as well as her siblings Durham Ledbetter, Iva Howington, Catherine Long and Joe Ledbetter, and nephew James Ledbetter.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Also left to cherish her memory is her great niece Ashley Jones, husband Travis and their children; Hagan and Evie Jones and Bethany Schrader.

She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, she was an amazing Bridge player and her wonderful friends continued to come to her house every month to play with her.

Elaine attended Gardner Webb Jr. College and the University of Greensboro. She majored in Home Economics and taught in Rutherford and Cleveland County Schools for 33 years.

To honor Elaine's wishes, a graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
