On Friday, July 14^th, 2023, Alice Joan Walker Flowers departed this life into the arms of the Lord Jesus her Savior.

Born on May 11^th, 1940 in Swannanoa, NC to her parents Willard and Myrtle Walker, Joan is survived by her beloved husband Fred Allen Flowers of Shelby, NC, her three daughters, Lori and her husband Fred Sheffield of Currie, NC, Leigh and her husband Jeff Renn of Shelby, and Jessica Jones of Shelby and their families. She is also survived by her sister, Ann Blankenship of Swannanoa. Having resided in Shelby, NC for the past 60 years, Joan faithfully served the Lord at First Baptist Church of Shelby in numerous ways. She will be joyfully remembered as a vibrant woman of God, a faithful wife to her husband Fred and a dearly beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. The funeral service to honor her life is planned at First Baptist Church in Shelby (120 N. Lafayette St.) for Wednesday, July 19^th at 3:00pm, with a time of visitation beginning at 1:30pm in the Sanctuary.
