Angela "Angie" Auten Wood, 63, of 1219 S. Main St, Waynesville NC, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, September 25th, 2024, at Atrium Health Cleveland.

Born on January 17, 1961, in Shelby, NC to Junius Auten and Shirley Roberson Tiddy, Angie touched the lives of everyone she met. She was a compassionate and nurturing mother to her children and a beloved Mimi who found immense joy in her grandchildren. Her warmth, kindness and sense of humor brightened the lives of those around her.

Angie was a graduate of Shelby High School and went on to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Throughout Angie's distinguished 35 year career in healthcare, her greatest joy was serving as a labor and delivery nurse, guiding and supporting countless families through one of the most precious moments of their lives. Her gentle touch and reassuring presence made her a trusted nurse, and she left a lasting impact on both her colleagues and the many families she helped.

Beyond her professional life, Angie cherished her family above all. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James "Jim" Wood, with whom she shared 25 years of love and companionship. Their deep bond brought her joy and comfort throughout her life, and she cherished the many memories they created together. Her children and grandchildren were also the light of her life, and she never missed an opportunity to spoil them with her love and affection. They will carry her love with them always.
