Angela "Angie" Estalita James Hayes, 68, of Shelby, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at the Wendover Hospice House, Shelby.

Born in Mecklenburg County, on January 15, 1955, she was a daughter of the late Jeter Proctor James and Peggy Ann Plemmons James. She was retired from GastonPerio as a dental assistant and was a member of Mull's Memorial Baptist Church. Angie was an avid reader, but she would be found most often cheering on her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two brothers, Michael James and Buddy James and two sisters, Sylvia Wright and Lynn James

She is survived by her loving husband of 50 and a half years, James Dale Hayes; two daughters, Stephanie Costner and husband Donnie and Kim Devine and husband David both of Lawndale; a brother, David James and wife Kay of Shelby; and six grandchildren, Spencer Devine, Emma Devine, Peyton Devine, Meah Ivie, Joseph Costner and Emma Costner.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, from 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm, at Mulls Memorial Baptist Church .

A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 pm at Mull's Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Black officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
