Anita Kaye James Barrett, 64, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at her home in Shelby. Born on January 19, 1958, she was the daughter of the late David Newton James and Vivian Kathleen Johnson James. In addition to her parents, Anita is preceded in death by her sister, Dianne James Blanton. Anita worked for many years with Cleveland County Mental Health as Medical Records Clerk and Cleveland County Tax Collections as Deputy Tax Collector.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Paul Barrett, of the home and her brothers and sisters-in-law; Jane and Tim Jung of Kannapolis, NC, Tim and Ann Barrett of Shelby, NC, Marion Weatherbee of Pensacola, FL and Tommy Blanton of Shelby, NC. Also left to cherish her memory are many loving nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held 11:00AM Saturday October 15, 2022 at Westwood Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. David Costner officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
