Annie Ruth London Bridges

Annie Ruth London Bridges, 99 of Polkville, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center.

Born in Cleveland County, NC on July 19, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Everett Alston London and Lillie Hoyle London. She worked for Stamey Stores, JP Stevens and Universal Manufacturing Corporation and was a member of Polkville Baptist Church where she was a former secretary. Annie Ruth loved to cook, bake, garden, sew and give back to her church and community. She was very involved in fundraising for the Polkville Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Bridges; son, Jerry Bridges; brother, Alston London and sister, Mary Farmer.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Barbara W. Bridges; two grandson, David Bridges and wife, Heather of Gastonia and Brandon Bridges of Polkville; great-granddaughter, Lillie Bridges; brother, Jimmy London of Shelby and three sisters, Rosetta Walker of Casar, Nellie Jean Crowder of Lattimore and Martha Newton of Petersburg, VA.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Polkville Baptist Church.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Polkville Baptist Church with the Rev. Will Davis officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the Polkville Baptist Church Cemetery.
