Ansley Moore Schenck Newton, age 95, died Sunday July 2, 2023 at Atrium Health Cleveland Pines in Shelby, NC.

Born in Shelby on January 16, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Charlotte Wilkins Schenck and Sam Moore Schenck.

She attended Shelby High School and then went on to attend Sullins College in Virginia. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Shelby. She loved to play bridge and was active in both a weekly Bridge Club and a monthly Book Club. She was also active in the Junior Charity League and was presented in the first Debutante Ball in Shelby and the NC State Ball in Raleigh, NC. She was one of the first members of the Cotillion Dance Club. She was a devoted wife and loving mother to her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her brother, Sammy Schenck. She is survived by her three children, Clint Newton III of Shelby, NC, Ann Newton and her husband David Pollock of Pownal, ME, Robert Newton and his wife MaryKate Cunningham of Chapel Hill, NC. And their daughters Lily Newton of New York City and Grace Newton of Washington, DC. Nieces Shelia Bollick and husband Harry, Linda Aldworth and husband Don, Vicki Plumstead and husband Bill, Beth Albright and husband Ned, and Alison Gilbert. Nephews Sandy Newton and wife Sharon and David Campbell and wife Lori.

To honor the life of Ansley Newton a memorial service will be held Saturday, July 22nd at 1 o'clock, in the sanctuary of Episcopal Church of The Redeemer. The family will receive friends following the service.
