Barbara Canipe Beam, age 85, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Atrium Health Cleveland in Shelby.

Barbara was born March 10, 1938 in Shelby, NC and was a daughter of the late Charles Durham Canipe and Vera McMahan Hoyle.

Barbara worked many years in the textile industry before retiring. She attended St. Marks Lutheran Church in Cherryville, NC. Barbara was a devout Christian that loved reading her Bible. She enjoyed Christian music such as hymns and Southern gospel. She also watched the SonLife Broadcasting Network, Frances and Friends, and Jimmy Swaggart daily. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family. Barbara also served her community by volunteering her time to the American Legion Ladies Axillary Post 82 and delivering food, cards, and blankets to those in need. She was a shining light in this world for her Lord and Savior.

Barbara is survived by her children, Jimmy Graham (LeeAnne), Russell Hoyle (Robin), Scott Hoyle, Candace Hoyle (fiancé Kevin Stafford) and Eddie Hoyle (Gerri); eight grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; and sister, Mary Christine Blanton.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brothers, Jimmy Durham Canipe and Kenneth Ray Walker.

A funeral service will be Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home & Crematory, with Pastor Jerry Lail officiating. Beginning at 10:00 AM, there will be a visitation at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Cherryville Memorial Cemetery.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the excellent care and love shown to Barbara by the Atrium ICU staff at Cleveland Regional, especially Stephen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Marks Lutheran Church, 1203 St Marks Church Rd, Cherryville, NC 28021.
