In Loving Memory of Beth Anderson

May 20, 1965 - October 4, 2026

Some people leave footprints on our hearts. Beth Anderson left dragonflies.

Born on May 20, 1965, in New Jersey, Beth spent her life sharing love, kindness, laughter, and hope with everyone fortunate enough to cross her path. On October 4, 2026, she peacefully took flight from her home in Shelby, North Carolina, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.

If you knew Beth, you knew about the dragonfly.

Adorned on her skin as a beloved tattoo and carried deeply within her spirit, the dragonfly represented transformation, resilience, faith, and the beauty that can emerge from life's challenges. Beth often used the meaning of the dragonfly to tell her story and encourage others, reminding them that even after difficult seasons, there is growth, light, and purpose waiting ahead. Like the dragonfly itself, Beth moved through life with grace, strength, and an unmistakable sparkle.

Beth was a strong, selfless woman who was loved by everyone she met. Beautiful inside and out, she had a rare gift for making people feel seen, valued, and cared for. She was an incredible wife, mother, sister, and friend whose love knew no limits.

Throughout her life, Beth embraced many roles. She delighted people as a chef, lovingly cared for four-legged family members as a cherished Pet Nanny, crafted smiles as a dental lab technician, and most recently became a treasured member of the Shelby Dental Care Center family as a dental assistant. No matter where she worked, Beth's greatest talent was caring for others and making the world a little brighter.

Beth found joy in simple treasures: sunshine on her face, mountains in the distance, the rhythm of ocean waves, a table filled with good food, and live music shared with family and friends. She lived with an open heart, a free spirit, and a deep appreciation for the beauty surrounding her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Lynn Laning.

Left to carry forward her love, wisdom, and joyful spirit are her devoted husband, Todd Anderson; her daughter, Ali Anderson and husband Josh Callahan; her son, Nick Anderson; her brother, Dave Laning and wife Amy Beth; and countless friends, coworkers, neighbors, patients, and beloved pets whose lives were forever touched by her kindness.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Beth's remarkable life on Sunday, October 25, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Dragonfly Market in Shelby, NC. Fittingly, we will gather beneath the symbol she cherished most, sharing stories, laughter, memories, and live music by her favorite band, The Accentrix.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Beth's memory to the American Cancer Society or the American Autism Association.

As we say goodbye, we remember Beth's favorite lesson from the dragonfly: life is full of transformation, beauty, and hope. Though she has flown beyond our sight, her love remains all around us, carried in every act of kindness, every shared song, every ray of sunshine, and every dragonfly that dances across the sky.

When you see a dragonfly, think of Beth. Smile, take a deep breath, and remember her message keep growing, keep believing, and keep finding beauty in the journey.
