Betty Lou Wells Johnson

Betty Lou Wells Johnson, 95, of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, passed away on October 12, 2024 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain. Born September 12, 1929 in Cleveland County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late William Michael Wells and Sue Ellen Toney Wells and was also preceded in death by her husband Pete Johnson and siblings William E. Wells, Earnest B. Wells, Nellie Wells Godfrey, Mary Wells Wood, Bobby N. Wells, and Shirley Wells Holshouser. Betty graduated from Bethany High School in Clover, South Carolina before going on to work many years in the textile industry, most recently in quality control at Anvil Knitwear. In her later years, Betty worked at the Kings Mountain Herald. She was the organist for more than 40 years at East Gold Street Wesleyan Church in Kings Mountain. Betty was talented in the kitchen; everything she made was good, but her delicious chicken and dumplings were her specialty. She loved animals of all kinds, feeding everything from the regular domesticated variety to beavers and crows. Betty was a loving mother, devoted wife, and a wonderful grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Siblings: Boyce Wells and wife, Helen, and Toney Wells and wife, Martha Lou, all of Kings Mountain, NC
Grandchildren: Clayton Jackson and wife, Jessica, of MD; Matthew Jackson and wife, Lauren, of SC; Christopher Jackson and wife, Ellyse, of MD; and Ryan Jackson and wife, Lauren, of MD
Great-grandchildren: Chrystelle Jackson, Adaline Jackson, Kenzie Jackson, Max Jackson, Henry Jackson, and Tyler Jackson
Betty is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. in the Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel with Reverend Steven Blanton officiating.

VISITATION: Wednesday, October 16, 2024 prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:50 P.M. in the parlor of Harris Funeral Home.

INTERMENT: Bethany ARP Church Cemetery, Clover, South Carolina

MEMORIALS: Donations in Betty's memory may be made to any animal shelter or other charity of the donor's choice.
