Betty Lou Yelton, age 92 of Shelby, NC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Atrium Health in Shelby.

She is survived by her son, Allen Yelton-McVey (Doug) of Shelby, NC, a grandson, Cooper Yelton-McVey, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born November 30, 1931, in Cleveland County, NC, Betty was the daughter of the late Columbus Melton and Cellie Sanders Melton and was preceded in death by her husband, Wisker Yelton, one brother, and 10 sisters.

Betty was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Mission Bell No. 205 in Richmond CA. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel. A visitation will be held from 10:00am - 11:00am prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
