Betty Stringfellow Cook, 80, of Wesson Road, Blacksburg, SC, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at her residence.

She was born in Cleveland County on October 9, 1942, to the late William Grady Stringfellow and Vernie Mae Wright Stringfellow. Mrs. Cook was retired from FASCO.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Lee Cook; two sisters, Brenda Sain and Louise Gantt and son-in-law, Richard Tackett.

She is survived by her son, Ricky Cook of Conover; five daughters, Sherry Hawkins and husband, Everette of Blacksburg, Rhenda Tackett and Michael Vaughn of Gaffney, Lisa Smith and husband, Richard of Casar, Tammy Ostwalt and Jim Griffin of Blacksburg and Angel Hamrick and husband Eric of Belwood; two sisters, Lib Prater of Shelby and Ruth Willis of Lawndale; ten grandchildren Lindsay Cook, Matthew Cook, Melissa Gilbert, Ashley Ledford, Craig Gibson, Travis Smith, Chris Cochran, Danielle Toney, Justin Honeycutt, and Hunter Hamrick and 28 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Shelby Freewill Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 12:00pm at Shelby Freewill Baptist Church, 403 College Ave, Shelby NC 28152 with Pastor Mike Carper officiating.

The burial will follow in the Rose Hill Memorial Park.
