Betty Sue Grant

Betty Sue Grant, 82, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Cleveland County on May 2, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Ben Palmer Wilson and Elva Faye Willis Wilson. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Edmond "Red" Grant, brothers Bobby Joe Wilson, Palmer Ray Wilson and sister Annice Wilson Allen.

Betty Sue, a cherished member of Eastside Baptist Church in Shelby, passed away leaving behind a legacy of kindness and dedication. For over 40 years, she was a valued part of the Suttle's Drug Store in Shelby, where her commitment to service was well-known. After retiring, she continued her passion for helping others through her work at Shelby Manor, where she supported both staff and residents with care and compassion. She will be remembered for her persistent spirit, her generous heart, and, above all, her profound love for her grandchildren.

Betty Sue is survived by her two daughters Myra Whitesides (Chan), Donna Spangler (Grant),, five grandchildren, Jake Whitesides (Shwetha), Jordan Whitesides, Grant Blanton, Carly Spangler and Aaron Spangler. Also left to cherish her memory is her special nephew Ray Allen and special family Deloria Leigh and Jennifer Martin.

A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, September 8, 2024 in the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home & Crematory with Jeremy McSwain offering words of encouragement for those in attendance. The family will receive friends following the service. A private interment service will be held at Cleveland Memorial Park.
