Betty Tate Jolley, age 91, of Charlotte and formerly of Morganton, NC, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at Atrium Health in Pineville.
Betty was born Thursday, March 24, 1932 in Rutherford County to the late Paul Tate, Sr. and Callie Morrow Tate. She was graduate of Blanton's Business School in Asheville and worked as an Assistant Manager for Home Credit Company/Barclay's American for most of her working years before retirement. She was a past member of Sandy Mush Baptist Church and an active member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Morganton. Betty was known to all for being a great cook and an avid reader.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-nine years, Bobby "Burl" Jolley and two sisters, Joyce Costner and Marilyn Betz.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Chris Jolley (Grace) of Matthews; brother, Paul Tate, Jr. (Blandine) of Lattimore; sister, Carol Roper (Charles) and a granddaughter, Clair Ellingson (Josh).
A gathering to honor Betty's life will be conducted from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 8th at Harrelson Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
