Bobby Griffin Smith, age 82 of Shelby, NC, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Atrium Health in Shelby.

He is survived by his children, Patrick Smith (Julie) of Shelby, NC, Richard Ropp (Tracy) of Shelby, NC, Rusty Ropp (Mary Routh) of Kings Mountain, NC, and Kim Childers (Chris) of Gaffney, SC, ten grandchildren, Emilee Smith, Jacob Smith, Kati Ropp, Ryan Ropp, Austin Ropp, Brandon Ropp, Makayla Childers, Dustin Childers, Lane Parker, and Vince Parker, ten great grandchildren, Landree Hunt, Mallorie Hunt, Rylee Hunt, Levi Parker, Logan Parker, Tripp Gantt, Oaklyn Ropp, Nellie Ropp, Annalise Harder, and Joshua Harder, a brother, Harley Smith (Sybil) of Charlotte, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born February 1, 1942, in Cleveland County, NC, Bobby was the son of the late Pressley and Hazel Wright Smith and was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Davis Smith, and his siblings, Holland Smith, Alberta Moore, Peggy Henderson, and Boyd Smith.

Bobby was a wonderful, generous man that would give you anything as long as he had it. He served in the United States Navy. Bobby was loved by his family and will be missed by everyone that knew him. He was the kind of person that would always make you laugh or put a smile on your face. Bobby considered all his grandchildren his pride and joy.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from 2:00pm - 3:30pm at Cleveland Funeral Services. A graveside service will follow the visitation at Sunset Cemetery conducted by Rev. Robbie Moore. Military Honors will be rendered at the cemetery.
