Bruce Camp's Local Fishing Report April 14th edition
KOSA
The Kosa retirees fished Lake Norman last week with pretty good catches. John Black and Roger McNeilly won with 10.30 and they were followed by Doug O’Shields and David Sparrow with 9.85. Tommy Wess and James Haynes took third with 7.0. Wess and Hayens also had big bass of the day with a 4.45 largemouth. This week it is back to Lake Wylie and results could be VERY good.
Moss
Twenty-eight boats made it out for the weekly Thursday night bass tournament on Moss Lake. Scott Yarbro and Nathan White picked up the win with 11.65. Larry Denton and Allen McSwain had 11.17 and took second. Jody Black and Lebo Smith brought in 8.77 and landed in third with JR Garland and Ronnie Beason getting fourth with 6.95. Rounding out the top five was Brian and Cody Hoyle with 6.17. Big bass of the night was a 4.75 largemouth brought in by Yarbro and White. Arnold and the Thursday night bunch are putting on their annual charity tournament on May 7 at Moss Lake. The event will have an 80% payback with the other 20% will go to the charity. Entry fee is only $70 and that includes big bass pot. The event will fish from 7am til 3 pm.
CCBC
The Cleveland County Bass Club fished their Top Ten Championship this past Saturday. The event is held on a lake unknown until the morning of the event. Lake Hickory was the lake drawn from the hat. Roger Hamrick battled a stomach bug and won with 4 bass weighing 9.92. Chuck Camp had 4 bass as well and took second with 9.28. Tom Mayhew had a limit weighing 8.10 and took third. Chuck Camp had the big bass of the event with a 4.34 largemouth. The CCBC will fish Lakes Wateree and Hickory in May.
