City Of KM 4th Of July Revolutionary 4th
The City of Kings Mountain will celebrate the 4th of July with the “Revolutionary 4th” as a three day event – Saturday, Sunday and Monday at the Walking Track Park in Kings Mountain.  There will be music, muskets and the largest fireworks show between Charlotte and Asheville. The event begins Saturday, July 2nd at noon with the opening of a Colonial Era Living History Encampment.
Over a half dozen Revolutionary War militias will participate with musket and cannon demonstrations, a children’s militia muster and games. Everyone is invited to sign the Declaration of Independence. Colonial craft making skills will be shared throughout the encampment.  For those wishing to learn more about Revolutionary War combat techniques, there will be a bayonet training demonstration and opportunities to talk to all the re-enactment groups.
At 6:00 pm on the 4th, “The Extraordinaires” will perform at the main stage with a concert of “the classics/rhythm & blues”.  Beginning at 9:00 pm, there will be a patriotic opening ceremony with a parade featuring The Marine Corp League, area Boy Scouts, the Loch Norman Pipe Band and a gathering of the militias led by the South Fork Militia.  Following the opening program, cannon nightfire will signal a mock cannon battle between the British and the various patriot militias led by Mayor Rick Murphrey.  A victory signal will start the “Revolutionary 4th! Fireworks show, sponsored by the Kings Mountain Tourism Development Authority.
The Colonial Living History encampment is free and open to the public at 12 noon – 5:00 pm on Saturday & Sunday and     1 pm – 4:30 pm on Monday.  On the 4th, visitors are encouraged to bring a blanket or chairs to sit on and enjoy the music and fireworks with live music beginning at 6 pm.
