Clyde Goforth

Clyde Goforth, 78, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Atrium Health Cleveland in Shelby, NC.

He was born on January 12, 1945 in Cherokee County, SC, to the late John Freeman Goforth and the late Rosa Woods Goforth.

Mr. Goforth was employed with Hickory Business Furniture until he retired in 2007. He maintained perfect attendance while employed. He was a mechanic by nature and could fix anything. He had a love for remodeling, which was his dream. He enjoyed helping his family and friends. Driving his wife around became his full time job after retiring. He had been a long time member of Palmer Grove Baptist Church until his passing.

Mr. Clyde Goforth was the last standing member of his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; John (Jack) Goforth, Roy Goforth, Scott Goforth and Brodus Goforth, who were father figures to him; three sisters; Virginia Byrd, Clementine Surratt and Judy Odoms.

He leaves to cherish exceptional memories with his wife of 59 years, Nettie Lou Goforth; his children John Goforth, Angie (Kelvin) Mintz and a special niece Latosha Miller, all residents of Shelby, NC.

He also leaves loving memories with his grandchildren; Johnathan and Joshua Goforth, DeMarrio, Amber and DeAngelo Mintz and Trayvone Whaley, all of Shelby; fourteen great grandchildren and three special sisters in law; Annie Ruth Goforth, Kathleen Goforth and Betty Goforth and one brother in law, Frank Byrd. Mr. Goforth also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Palmer Grove Baptist Church in Kingstown, NC at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM on Saturday and other times at 1702 Archdale Drive, Kingstown, NC.
