Cynthia "Cindy" Austin

Early Monday, December 18th, Cynthia "Cindy" Austin (63) passed away at Atrium Health Cleveland.

She grew up in the Patterson Springs community and as a member of Patterson Springs Baptist Church.

She was a 1978 graduate of Crest High School. She began her career following in her father's footsteps working as an electrician with Davis Electrical. After gaining all her electrical knowledge she shifted her focus and started a 10 year career in management with Home Depot. Cindy was such a loving and caring individual and transferred those gifts to the medical profession. She started as a Surgical Tech before continuing her education to become an OR Nurse. After several years as an OR Nurse, she wanted to shift her focus to enjoy more of a connection with her patients and continued as an RN. She completed her almost 20 years in the medical profession as a Travel Nurse and absolutely loved caring for her patients.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents David and Edith Austin and maternal grandparents Levi and Ruby Grooms.

She is survived by her parents, David (Sonny) and Erma Austin, brother Jerry Austin (Shelley) sister Sheila Austin Hamrick (Scott) and niece Ansley Hamrick Gibson (Katelyn), and nephews Trever Austin (Megan) and Andrew Hamrick (Hanna) and great nieces Kennedy Austin (mom Katie) and Khloe Hamrick and great nephew Khole Hamrick. She is also survived by her step nephews Cy and Walker Lowery and step great nephew Dakota Lowery.

Sis, as she was affectionately known by all who loved her so well, absolutely adored her niece and nephews! Ansley, Trever and Andrew were more like her own children and her whole world revolved around doing for them! She was there for their games, dance recitals, motocross events and everything in between. She was known for constantly taking pictures and how blessed we are to have all of those tangible memories.

The family will have a celebration of life service at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, December 26th in the Chapel at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home with receiving of friends following the ceremony.
