David Duane Kruse

In Loving Memory of David Duane Kruse also known as Dave or Davey by beloved friends.

David Duane Kruse, aged 76, passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his daughter, Shannon, on Sunday, July 16th, 2023. Born on December 19, 1946, David's life was a testament to courage, creativity, and selflessness.

For the past decade, David valiantly battled cancer, facing its challenges with unwavering strength and grace. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Virginia Kruse, as well as his beloved wife, Shirley Kruse.

David was a man of immense talent and passion, leaving an indelible mark on the worlds of art and design. He graduated from Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and later from Rock Valley College in Rockford, Illinois. As a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, he served his country with honor and dedication for a total of seven years, stationed across the nation.

Throughout his life, David pursued his creative calling as a graphic designer, painter, and artist. His passion for creativity knew no bounds, and he delighted in expressing himself through painting, photography, and various outdoor activities like kayaking and hiking. He found joy in exploring the beauty of nature, and his zest for life was contagious to all who knew him.

Into his retirement years, David continued to make a profound impact by dedicating himself to a life coaching ministry. Countless individuals benefited from his guidance and wisdom, and he remained an inspiration to the young and old alike.

His faith in Jesus was an integral part of his life, and he actively served at his beloved church, Venture Church in Dallas, North Carolina. With boundless compassion, David embarked on several mission trips to Peru, where he helped build churches and wells, providing vital access to clean water for those in need.

David is survived by his loving brother, Paul Kruse, who is married to Rita Kruse, along with their extended family members. David cherished the bond he shared with his brother and found comfort in the support they provided each other throughout their lives. The memories they created together will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew them both.

David's greatest source of pride and joy were his children, Shannon Zittle (married to Scott Zittle) and Tamra Brinkmeier (married to Charley Brinkmeier). He adored his grandchildren, Gabrielle Zittle (Married to Kevin Stephens), Rebecca Dauterman (Married to Jordn Dauterman), Garrett Zittle (Married to Jennifer Zittle), Greyson Zittle (Married to Abigail Zittle), Destiny Dawkins-Zittle, Bryanna Soto, and Haylie Zittle. His great-grandchildren, Charley Brinkmeier and Porter Zittle, brought him immense happiness and a sense of continuity.

David Duane Kruse's life was marked by love, service, and creativity. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion and inspiration that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Celebration of David's Life will be held at Venture Church, 800 East Main Street in Dallas, NC on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at 3:00 pm ET. Additionally, an additional Memorial Service will take place at Leaf River Baptist Church in Leaf River, IL on Tuesday, July 25, at 5:30 pm CT.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. This choice reflects David's unwavering passion for helping others and directly supports Luke Stephens, the nephew of Kevin Stephens and Gabrielle Zittle, who is a survivor of Neuroblastoma. Your contribution will make a significant difference in the lives of children battling serious illnesses.
