Donald "DJ" James Gettys, 38, passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 01, 2024 while at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.

He is predeceased by his father, Allen Broyles; grandmother, Polly Gettys; niece, Kylie Price; aunt, Sandra Greene; uncles, Lester Greene and Jerry Simmons.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Olivia Gettys and Caitlin Norman; son, Abel Gettys; mother, Patricia Ramsey; grandfather, James Gettys; brothers, Brandon Edwards and Mikey Broyles; sisters, Nicole Broyles and Tabitha Broyles; 7 nephews; 8 nieces; 5 aunts; 4 uncles; numerous cousins; best friend, Alex Watson.

"DJ" loved fishing, playing cards, spending time with his family, watching wrestling, playing predening wrestling with his brothers and friends in the whole neighborhood. He protected his family and made sure all of them were smiling and feeling safe. He made friends wherever he went. His favorite NFL team was the Carolina Panthers.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 07, 2024 at Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church, 301 Deviney St, Spindale, NC 28160 with Chad Sisk, Buddy Campbell and Daniel Crawford will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be immediately following the service in the church cemetery.
