Donnie Ray Cody, (also known as 'Cuz" to those close to him) 70, of Shelby NC, entered into eternal rest at 7:45pm on January 1, 2026 after a long battle with cancer. He was born May 29, 1955 to the late Charles Ray Cody and the late Carol Jean Caulder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Benjamin Cody; sisters, Judy Chavis, Vickie Locklear and Sharon Cody. He is survived by brother and caregiver, Danny Gene Cody, brothers, Charles Cody Jr and Kenneth Cody and sisters, Connie Hunt, Freda Allen, Peggy Cody and Wanda Cody. Donnie is also survived by numerous cousins he grew up with forming sibling bonds with them.

Donnie worked as a roofer for many years with his uncles in the Cody Roofing businesses. Prior to his illness, he enjoyed drawing cartoon images of cars, as well as many other drawings. He also enjoyed playing pool, reading books with his favorite being comic books and going to the flea market. He loved to spend time watching Westerns on TV though he was not too happy about them always being reruns and the many commercials interrupting his shows.

Receiving of Friends will be at 3:30pm with Services at 4:00pm on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 502 W Sumter Street, Shelby, NC 28150. All who knew and loved Donnie are warmly welcomed to attend. Burial will be private at later date.
